Press Release: Special General Assembly to amend the constitution of the World Newah Organization conducted online. 

World Newah Organization has successfully organized a Special General Assembly to amend its constitution. The draft that was prepared by a 13 member committee headed by Kamal Shrestha (New Zealand) and ratified by the Executive Board was presented in the assembly meeting called on the 21st of December 2024 online. The amendment targetted three key points of changes: 

1. Empowerment of WNO country chapters, 

2. Establishment of two new constitutional bodies, a secretariat in USA and a board of patrons, as advisors and ceremonial heads of the organization, and 

3. Make the organization more democratic based on the ideology of rotation and inclusion.

 The meeting was chaired by Sanyukta Shrestha the President of World Newah Organization and the deliberation and polling to adopt the consitution was facilitated by a three member steering committee chaired by Dr. Bal Gopal Shrestha with Dr. Narayan Rajbhandari and Mr. Krishna Chakhun as members. The assembly deliberated on key articles with amendments and also facilitated new suggestions and recommendations. The assembly voted on the article over a 24 hours window with retraction of some amends and further recommendations. The assembly reached a resolution on the 23rd of December 2024. In accordance to the amended constitution a 9-member board of patrons was proposed by the Executive Board with Malla K Sundar, Mahesh Man Shrestha, Narendra Hada, Prem Shanti Tuladhar, Bal Gopal Shrestha, Season Shrestha, Daya Ratna Shakya, Krishna Chakhun, and Narayan Rajbhandari. The board will selfappoint a chair who will act as the chief patron. Further recommendations and suggestions proposed during the assembly will be deliberated further with additional calls for assembly meetings in the near future.
